At Emergency Electrician 247, we are committed to delivering reliable and high-quality electrical services while ensuring full transparency. Please take a moment to read these terms carefully to understand our working practices and your responsibilities.
- These terms and conditions are designed to avoid any misunderstandings between us and our clients.
- By using our website or services, you agree to these terms and conditions.
Booking, Arrival & Cancellation
- We aim to have the electrician on site within 60–90 minutes from the booking, and we'll provide an estimated arrival time. It's your responsibility to give an accurate address. Arrival times are estimates only and depend on electrician availability, traffic conditions, and suitable safe parking for our electricians and vehicles.
- All our services are provided in response to customer requests for urgent or emergency electrical repairs, maintenance, or safety checks requiring prompt attendance. By booking with us (whether described as an emergency call-out, urgent visit, or any requested attendance), you are specifically requesting a visit for the purpose of carrying out urgent repairs or maintenance.
To secure priority attendance and allow us to immediately assign an electrician, a £100 deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit covers our administrative costs, booking allocation, and initial preparation, which are incurred as soon as the booking is confirmed.
• If the job proceeds, the £100 deposit will be deducted from your final invoice.
• If you cancel the booking after confirmation (but before the electrician arrives), the deposit will be retained as a genuine pre-estimate of the administrative, scheduling, and allocation costs already incurred. No further charges will apply.
Where services are requested for urgent or emergency repairs, statutory cooling-off rights may not apply in accordance with consumer protection regulations.
Costs, Charges & Payments
- For emergency call-outs, urgent visits, or any requested attendance, we charge a fixed first-hour rate of £185 (see full rates). This covers booking, travel and up to one hour of labour. All jobs have a minimum charge of one hour. Additional time is billed in 30-minute units. Parts and materials are charged separately. On bank holidays and over the Christmas period the fixed first-hour rate is £220.
- Hourly rates are based on one person per hour. For example, if two electricians are working, you'll be charged for two person-hours per hour.
- Any parking fees, congestion charges, Clean Air Zone charges, or other vehicle-related costs incurred by our engineer will be added to the final invoice.
- Any extra work, including fixing pre-existing faults, requires a new estimate, quote, or additional labour costs.
- If special access equipment is needed, its cost will be charged extra and must be paid in advance by you.
- For larger jobs, payment may be required in stages based on progress. This will be outlined in the estimate or quote.
- We do not offer credit. Payments are due immediately when the invoice is presented to you or the person who ordered the work. Invoices may be on paper, digital, or via a Sum-Up remote payment request. Accepted payments: credit/debit card, cash, or cleared bank transfer.
- Late Payments
If payment is not received when due, we reserve the right to charge interest and recovery costs as follows:
Consumer customers:
We reserve the right to charge reasonable late payment interest and recovery costs as permitted by applicable consumer law.
Business customers:
Statutory late payment interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate (calculated daily from the due date until payment), together with a fixed late payment compensation fee, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998. The applicable base rate will be the rate in force on the invoice due date.
- Debt Recovery
In the event of late or non-payment, we reserve the right to pass your details (including name, address, contact information, and details of the debt) to a third-party debt collection agency or solicitor for recovery. Any additional costs, fees, or charges incurred during the debt recovery process will be added to the amount owed and remain your responsibility.
Scope of Work & Limitations
- Emergency work may only involve making the situation safe. An emergency call-out does not guarantee the re-energisation of any circuits or equipment. We can’t guarantee a fault can be found or rectified within the first hour.
- Unless specified otherwise, accessories like sockets and switches will be white plastic, mid-range quality (such as BG or similar). Sockets will be non-USB type, and light switches or downlights will be non-dimmable. Recessed downlights will be fire-rated, non-tilt GU10 LED lamp type.
- Work on site may be done by one or more people sourced by www.emergencyelectrician247.co.uk.
Assumptions & Extra Costs
- When adding a socket, switch, or similar from an existing one, we assume the existing accessory is not a spur and is suitable for the change. If not, extra costs may apply to accommodate the alteration or addition.
- For new circuit installations, if there are blank, unlabelled, or labelled spare circuit breakers or empty ways in the consumer unit or distribution board, we assume they are available for use. If no spare ways are available, extra costs will apply to accommodate the new circuit.
- If we encounter existing or previously unknown faults or issues during fault-finding, testing, inspections, or installation work (or afterwards), we'll inform you of the problems and possible fixes. Any corrective work will cost extra.
Customer Responsibilities & Access
- Electrical power may be interrupted at any time without warning. You are responsible for unplugging or removing sensitive electronic or electrical equipment before work starts, or for letting the electrician know about it.
- If access is needed to lofts, basements, outbuildings, storage areas, or plant rooms, we assume there is enough space to move, it’s not full of items, there are no vermin, and the area is safe.
- For pre-booked work, you must clear furniture and personal items before we arrive to allow proper access for the electrician and equipment.
- If we are required to move furniture or personal items to gain access, all additional time will be charged at the quoted or standard hourly rate. While reasonable care will be taken, we will not be responsible for damage resulting from restricted access, pre-existing defects, or the movement of items that have not been cleared or protected in advance by you.
You are responsible for removing or protecting any fragile, valuable, or sentimental items prior to our arrival. If adequate access cannot be provided, we may stop work immediately, and all time spent and costs incurred up to that point will remain chargeable.
- If materials are encountered on site that are known, suspected, or reasonably believed to contain asbestos, work in the affected area will stop immediately in accordance with health and safety legislation. We do not test for or confirm the presence of asbestos.
It is your responsibility to arrange for appropriate testing, inspection, and, where necessary, professional removal or confirmation that the material is safe, with written evidence provided to us before work can recommence.
All costs associated with asbestos testing, inspection, removal, or delay are your responsibility. Any time spent and costs incurred by us up to the point work is stopped (at the quoted or standard hourly rate) remain fully chargeable.
- We will not work in premises where minors are present without adult supervision.
- Please ensure all pets are secured away from the work area before work begins. We cannot be held responsible for their wellbeing where pets are not adequately secured or kept away from the work area.
- Tools, materials, and access equipment provided by www.emergencyelectrician247.co.uk or our sourced contractors may not be used by you or any third parties.
Damage, Making Good & Waste
- During testing, inspecting, or replacing accessories, minor damage may occur to surrounding areas. Fixing this may require other professionals and is not included in our costs or quotes.
- If carpets or flooring need to be lifted or removed, we'll try to avoid damage (note that carpet underlay can deteriorate over time). Professional refitting or replacement is not included in our pricing and must be arranged and paid for by you.
- Wall chases and back box chases will be left unfilled. Making good wall chases, decorative finishes, or external brickwork is not included in any quote and must be arranged and paid for by you.
- We'll make reasonable efforts to minimise dust and do basic tidying. We do not remove waste, materials, or packaging. It's your responsibility to dispose of waste from the premises. Professional cleaning is at your expense.
